Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Creamy Ranch Sauce:

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon dried chives
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

For Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Extra shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the Creamy Ranch Sauce:

  1. Melt the Butter: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add Chicken Broth: Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  3. Add Creamy Ingredients: Stir in the heavy cream and sour cream, mixing well until smooth.
  4. Season the Sauce: Add dried parsley, dill, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir to combine.

Combine and Cook:

  1. Return Chicken to the Pan: Add the seared chicken back into the skillet, coating it with the creamy ranch sauce.
  2. Simmer: Reduce heat to low and let the chicken simmer for 10-15 minutes, until fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
  3. Optional Cheese Addition: If using cheese, sprinkle shredded cheddar over the chicken and let it melt into the sauce.

Serve and Garnish:

  1. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra cheese if desired. Serve hot.
